Are your Caregivers bonded and insured?
Yes, all Kind Caregivers are bonded and insured. This includes workers compensation insurance, disability insurance, and general liability insurance. We also conduct background checks, CORI screens, and DMV screening on all caregivers, and all Kind team members must complete our orientation and training.
Do you provide free consultations before we decide on a home care professional?
Yes, our in home consultations are always free, and if we aren’t the best option for you we are happy to make referrals to other local services.
Do you provide overnight or 24/7 care?
Yes, we can provide care 24/7, 365 days a year.
Do you provide services to individuals living with disabilities?
Yes, we serve all individuals who can use our assistance and need help living independently.
What is your cancelation policy?
If you are going to cancel a visit, we ask that you call our office directly at least 72 hours before the start of the visit. To be fair to our Caregivers, we do charge for the visit if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice.
Can I request a different Caregiver?
Absolutely. We will simply find a Caregiver who is a better match for you. Matching you with the right Caregiver is very important to us.
How do you pay for private home care?
Private home care is typically paid through:
- Out-of-Pocket (Private Pay): Individuals or families use personal savings, pensions, or Social Security.
- Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCI): Covers non-medical services like bathing or meal prep, with policy-specific rules.
- Medicaid (if eligible): May cover in-home care for those who meet income and asset requirements, varying by state.
- Medicare (limited coverage): Only covers skilled care (e.g., nursing or therapy) with doctor approval, not custodial care.
- Veterans Benefits: Eligible veterans may receive in-home care through VA programs.
At Kind, we mainly see private pay and LTCI. We don’t accept Medicare, Medicaid, or VA benefits currently, but we’re working on a VA contract in Maine. We charge an hourly rate based on the type of care provided.
